Annual Children's Art Contest

The Annual Children’s Art Contest is a highlight of the Historic Weekend. JHBG invites neighborhood children in grades K-8 to create original, colorful, imaginative pieces of art celebrating Jackson Heights. Each year’s theme celebrates community, events, landmarks, parades and performances. Over 80 students participated recently, creating artwork featuring their favorite buildings. Students can use paint, crayons, ink or collage for their entries. All students who submit their artwork are commended, and we select first and second place winners. A local reception is held to recognize the winners with a prize and ribbons, along with their art teachers and their families. Some of our local stores display about 20 works for the neighborhood to enjoy.
