Gardening in the Rain at IS 145

It was a rainy, cold day, but we got the job done.  Working with dedicated volunteers who came out in the rain to trim back some branches, put in 2 flower beds and plant grass seed.  We hope with some more sun light, the garden will flourish.  Next week, students will plant some flowers.

On Saturday, May 13th from 10 AM to 1 PM we will be working on the garden around IS 145 at 80th Street and 34th Avenue.  Thanks to a grant from the Citizen’s Committee of New York City, we will be building a memorial flower bed for Dr. Dolores Beckham, the long-time principal who died last September.  We will also be pruning trees and planting grass seed.

We provide the gloves and tools, you make Jackson Heights beautiful.  All are welcome and we are gardeners, so we work rain or shine.
