The Jackson Heights Orchestra (JHO) was established in 2012 by founding Music Director Patricia Glunt in collaboration with the Jackson Heights Beautification Group (JHBG). The organization expanded significantly during Glunt’s leadership through 2023, becoming recognized as a leading ensemble in Queens. The JHO operates as a program of the JHBG and serves the local community.
The ensemble aims to enhance the cultural vitality of Jackson Heights through live music performances. It brings together musicians from various backgrounds who share a dedication to musical excellence. The organization prioritizes creating an inclusive and supportive environment where artists can develop their craft and pursue creative collaboration.
Alex Wen has served as Artistic Director since 2023. Wen holds a Master's degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Aaron Copland School of Music and a Bachelor's degree in viola performance from Azusa Pacific University.
