The wait is over. JHBG’s 2026 gardening season kicks off this April, and we are ready to get our hands dirty again. Every Saturday from April through November, volunteers gather from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at our 19 garden spots across Jackson Heights to plant, weed, mulch, and care for the green spaces that define our neighborhood.
This year, we are planning new plantings at several garden locations, with a focus on native perennials and pollinator-friendly species. Our experienced gardeners are always happy to share their knowledge with newcomers, so whether you are a seasoned horticulturist or have never held a trowel, you are welcome.
We will also be working closely with the JH SCRAPS composting program to incorporate locally produced compost into our garden beds, closing the loop between food waste and healthy soil.
No sign-up is required. Simply show up at any of our garden spots on a Saturday morning, ready to work. Tools and gloves are provided. Bring water and a willingness to get a little muddy. For garden locations and more details, email info@jhbg.org.
