Support JHBG and Local Food Banks On Giving Tuesday

Dear Neighbors:

This year has been both challenging and hopeful. For many of us, 2021 marked the ability to see some semblance of normal again, including safely seeing our neighbors, enjoying the rich culture and restaurants our neighborhood has to offer, even enjoying parades, like Jackson Heights Beautification Group’s (“JHBG”) own Halloween Parade.

At JHBG we were more than excited to return to much of our regular work putting on the 30th Annual Halloween Parade, being the most active volunteer tree care group in NYC, TreeLC, hosting Summer Sundays in Travers Park, maintaining our food composting work with JH Scraps, our soon to return JH Orchestra, and other longstanding projects for for our neighborhood including Clean Streets, graffiti removal, and our dog run on 69th street. We were also super excited to be able to expand our work on Jackson Heights’ newest green corridor the 34th Avenue Open Streets!   But we know that our work is nowhere near finished, and the recovery has not been anywhere near equal in our neighborhood.

The Jackson Heights Beautification Group was founded during hard times with a vision inspired by a commitment to our neighborhood. In this same spirit, we are calling upon you, our neighbors, to help JHBG continue our mission, especially as we look forward to 2022, as well as support local organization serving our communities most vulnerable.

Our annual fundraiser this year for the upcoming Giving Tuesday on November 30th aims to raise proceeds for our mission of serving Jackson Heights and like last year, supporting local groups helping neighbors suffering from food insecurity. We will be donating half of all proceeds raised to local food groups.

We urge you to please join us on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in supporting JHBG.  Your gift will help our organization with our neighborhood programming, as well as helping other local organizations fulfill their mission to help feed the hungry and provide for those in need.
