JHBG Halloween Parade Committee
The JHBG Halloween Parade Committee
organizes the annual parade down 37th Avenue. At the end of the parade,
more than 3,000 bags of treats are handed out to children.
The success of the parade is thanks to the volunteers who put the parade
(and the bags of treats) together, and to the many local businesses that
contribute financially and otherwise.
Each year we need volunteers to help stuff the goodie bags (usually the
day before Halloween) and to give them out at the parade. We need to sign
up the volunteers in advance, so we know how many people will be helping
and with which tasks. All volunteers who help with stuffing the goodie
bags are treated to pizza and soda, and all of the volunteers are invited
to a thank-you party the night of the parade. Contact the JHBG by phone
(718-565-5344) or email (info@jhbg)
if you're interested.
In any case, come enjoy the parade this October 31. It starts at 89th
Street on 37th Avenue at 5:00 p.m. The goodie bags are distributed at
76th Street.
Major sponsors of the Halloween parade include Citibank and Coca-Cola
Bottling of New York, with terrific help from Met Supermarket, the 82nd
Street B.I.D., the Jewish Center of Jackson Heights, and the Kiwanis Club
of Jackson Heights. And a number of local businesses kindly made donations
to support the parade. The Halloween Parade Committee thanks them all!
