The city is creating more and more historic districts, but there is insufficient staff to process requests for work in timely manner. There are also no consequences for violations.

I don’t live in Jackson Heights anymore but I am a member of the Jackson Heights Beautification Group. I recently went back to visit my Apt building where I use to live. I was horrified to see that they had taken away the vestibule at 83-11 and adjoining building 83-17 34 Ave. They also have barbed wire in between the 2 buildings. It looks like a prison. The other 2 buildings on the corner of 83 & 34 Ave still have the same exterior as when we lived there. THey are identical buildings and cant understand why they just did it to my building. I think that they should have to put back the building to look like it originally looked back then. It use to have a beautiful lobby with benches and now it has no appeal. I have pictures of what the building looked like back then, The beauty has been taken away from this building.
